R2: Nicola is back!

Wind, wind, wind - a lovely evening breeze that didn't die out! And while we had lost Dave for the evening celebrating somewhere in Auckland, we had gained trimmer, statistician and photographer - Nicola.

The Crew

John (Captain), Mark, Ian, Nick and Nicola. 2 Nicks causing chaos :-)

Course 13

From the start line to Rough Rock Buoy (S), Northern Leading Buoy (S), Resolution Buoy (S), to the finish line. 10.3. There was an incoming tide but nowhere as strong as last race, and a SW wind.

The Start

Hit the start with some speed and tried to stay in touch. A very enjoyable reach down the harbour - still getting to grips with car positions for the new headsail.

Progress

The wind didn't die so we had no worries about getting back before 9:00PM cut-off - although it was very dark again by the time we reached the Harbour Bridge. We made all our marks well, even though we had to tack towards Resolution a bit earlier than we would have wanted because of a give-way situation - we were on port tack..

A good night to be on the water!

Result

2nd on handicap - thankyou wind ;-) and thank you Nicola!

Cheers, johnhs
