R10: Abandoned - Wind gone

A nice breeze to start the evening, we only had the strong outgoing tide to contend with on the way home... or so we thought.

The Crew

John (Captain), Ian, Dave, Mark and Andre.

Course 8

From the start line to Rough Rock Buoy (S), Bean Rock Buoy (S), Resolution Buoy (S), to the finish line. 9.3NM

The Start

A great start this week, without anyone pushing us around - nice to be running up the line on starboard :-)

Progress

With a good start we focused on our trim and stayed in touch with the fleet down the harbour. The breeze was getting lighter, but still a good sail. Around North Head we still had breeze, but once at Rough Rock, it was all over - running against the tide doing 1-2 knots. We finally pulled out before Resolution. Nobody in our division finished.

The Result

Another strike out I'm afraid - I guess there is some small consolation in the fact that no-one finished. Back at the clubhouse there was a very poor turnout, which worked in my favour, as I walked out with a 6-pack of beer spot prize.

cheers johnhs
