R2: Much More Wind

A great night for sailing with a good breeze between 20-30 knots from the West.

The Crew

John (Captain), Dave, Mark and Ian.

Course 8

To Rough Rock, Bean Rock, Resolution, and home. Pleanty of wind tonight so we expect to be back early for burgers at the clubhouse.

The Start

With the strong westerly we entered the box from the West and tried to time it so we had momentum on the gun. Not too bad, we didhave speed on and crossed shortly after the start signal. We were at the Southern end of the line and well set up to get our pole up and goose-wing down the harbour.

Progress

We stayed in touch with the fleet, and had a great tussle with U-Choose down and back up the harbour, with positions changing 2-3 times. Look at the Race 2 Track and you will see just how hard the boys worked coming back up the harbour - 26 tacks.

The Result

I was the only one to finish my beer on the way back - the guys were all working hard and had to surrender their beers early. We finally lost our fight with U-Choose after a great battle, a clean bottom on our part would have made the difference.

cheers, johnhs
